Ratamarumaru Farm

Over the weekend I travelled up to Wanganui and onward Northwest to the Ratamarumaru Farm owned by Dougal and Di Mcintosh,
I was commissioned to visit the farm, explore and experience the unique special places and photograph the land.

"Dad has farmed there all his life and he is quite remarkable in terms of his ability to adapt...and is very innovative. Accordingly the farm has so many interesting aspects: traditional sheep & beef, deer, forestry, carbon credits, has pockets of exotic forests, bee’s, tourism, Iwi projects" says Euan McIntosh their son.

I hope to capture the essence of the farm. I have chosen a scene that is intimate and personal yet displays the beauty of the land and the many trees that grow. Trees have been one of the main focuses of this farm not only planting pines but also many beautiful exotics and natives! Im a bit of a tree lover myself so this was fascinating.

The experience along side photographs I have taken will be a fantastic resource for a painting I will complete back in my studio.

This is the first time I have been commissioned to travel to a place to resource a painting. Absolutely loved the experience. Thank you Dougal and Di Mcintosh!
