The Cass Valley is located in the South Island of New Zealand, near Lake Tekapo.
The Cass valley is very well known for its spectacular cross country skiing in the winter, skiers accommodating  the backcountry huts scattered throughout the valley, high and low. The valley is also well know for its population of the Himalayan Tahr and Chamois, sort after trophy animals in the hunting community.

I spent two nights in Memorial Hut which is located close to the headwaters of the valley. A few years back I also visited the Lady Emily Hut which is located in the alpine basin above Memorial Hut. I was able to capture the light at different times of the day while keeping an eye on the animals that were scattered on the mountain peaks above.
