Oteake Conservation Park is located behind Alexandra in the iconic Central Otago area of New Zealand. This particular area is very popular for tramping and holds a collection of classic backcountry huts.
This scene in particular caught my eye as I crested the ridge in the late evening.
The array of hues and tones, so subtle had to be captured, adding to the atmosphere.
The rolling grass and tussock mountains stretch at far as the eye can see, so unique to that area. Often baron and vast, the evening light brought this place to life, highlighting the soft contours of the land.
I visited this place in April, however in winter the landscape is starkly different, often blanketed in thick snow, making it a very cold place to stay!
